# GLOSS LEVEL OF THE COAT

Sometimes the choice paint gloss can completely change the final look of the coat and the product.

Gloss is measured in % and levels at a particular angle level.

Generally the higher the gloss, the more light is being reflected from the base.

Glossy coating is as well easy to polish and clean of possible contamination. On the other hand, glossy coatings highlight defects of the surface / base and the pre-treatment.

Matt coatings on the other hand can cover defects of the surface/base and its application quality is not that difficult. However cleaning and polishing matt surface is much more difficult compared to glossy surface.

Degrees of gloss by 60° ISO 2813

• Matt                 (1–8 % gloss)
• Semi-matt       (9-40 % gloss)
• Semi-gloss      (41-70 % gloss)
• Gloss                (71-90 % gloss)
• High Gloss       (91–97 % gloss)
